My Story
Meet Artist Jaime Rinehart Smith
I'm an artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. My love for painting began at age 10 when I saw a sign on display in a craftstore window that read, "Learn to Paint this Seascape." I boldly took the day-long oil painting class with five other adults. Something grew in me that day and I've cultivated it into a life-long art careeer.
At age 18, I went off to college to study art at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. My studies took me on a semester long emersive art experience affectionately called, "Euroterm." My painting professor lead a group of 20 art students as we traveled to London, Venice, and Florence before our final desitionation of Paris, France. The semester left a lasting impression on me and my artwork. I will never forget standing under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower at night or sitting in front of a wall sized Monet painting in the Louvre. Everything about it was magical.
In 2016, after quiting my job as a full-time paralegal and becoming a mom to 3 kids, I began painting strictly in acrylics. I set up an art studio in my home living room and reaquainted myself with something I was born to do---paint. I began by painting portraits of my kids. I now paint landscapes and portraits "en plein air," which is french for outdoors and on location.
